A night to remember: after 560 days Santiago Bernabeu hosts the 5-2 victory of Real over Celta

The moment everyone was waiting for finally came! On Sunday night Santiago Bernabeu hosted a football match for the first time in 560 days... and it was a thrilling night! Real Madrid overcame Celta Vigo in a goal festival and took the lead again with 10 points after 4 matches. It was not a simple match and Real showed some insecurities in defense but everything was solved as the team always pushed forward and kept the enthusiasm alive.

It was a great match from Benzema who scored three times, for Vinicius who scored the 3-2 goal confirming his determination to become more and more mature and also for Camavinga who had the debut of his dreams with his dream club scoring once. A result that makes everyone happy but does not leave room for relax.

Real Madrid returned to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium after 560 days in the match against Celta to take all three points. A spectacular second-half display from Carlo Ancelotti's side, turning the match around after trailing 2-1 at the break. A first-half goal from Benzema was followed by two more from the Frenchman, one from Vini Jr. and a debut from goal from Camavinga after the break. The madridistas are still unbeaten in LaLiga.

Things went against the home side early on as Celta took the lead after just four minutes. Aspas won the ball back in the opponents' box and played in Santi Mina, who beat Courtois. The home side could have equalised two minutes later after a Modrić free kick found Vinicius Jr. whose header forced Dituro into a reflex save to turn the ball behind for a corner. The minutes ticked by and Real Madrid moved up the gears, building pressure in and around the Celta area. Their dominance was rewarded with the equalising goal in the 24th minute when Casemiro played in Valverde who crossed from the edge of the area and Benzema was on hand to show his goal-scoring instinct to slot the ball home.

However, the joy proved to be short-lived for Ancelotti’s men, who once again fell behind just six minutes later. Cervi it was who put the visitors back in front after he reacted instinctively when his initial effort came back off the upright following yet another Celta counter-attack. Benzema put the ball in the back of the net in the 39th minute, but his headed effort was chalked off after Casemiro had strayed offside in the build-up, but this would prove to be a foretaste of what was to come after the interval. No sooner had the second half got underway than Benzema met Miguel Gutiérrez’s cross from the left flank with a bullet header that found the net.

Real Madrid had been warned and after hauling themselves level, weren’t about to let Celta catch them out again. Indeed, the hosts got their noses in front with 55 minutes on the clock, when Benzema played a measured left-footed through ball that Vini Jr. latched on to and finished with aplomb. The Brazilian’s pace was causing the Celta backline all sorts of problems and he once again wreaked havoc in the 66th minute. Courtois launched the ball downfield and Araújo fluffed his lines with the clearance and the attacker picked up the ball and unleashed an effort from the edge of the box that forced Dituro, who was already heading in the opposite direction, to stick out a left leg to clear away.

Camavinga then entered the fray in place of Hazard and the French midfielder’s Real Madrid career couldn’t have got off to a better start after he found the net just six minutes after being introduced. Following a delightful piece of play orchestrated by Modrić, who escaped the attentions of two visiting defenders before firing in a right-footed shot with the outside of his boot, the ball ricocheted out to the Frenchman, who turned home first time with his left foot.

However, the madridistas weren’t quite done yet in what was a second-half blitz and there was still time for Vinicius Jr. to work his magic. The Brazilian collected the ball in the box and bore down on two defenders and drove past them, only to be upended by Denis Suárez just as he was closing in on the visitors’ goal. Benzema converted the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick and move top of the scoring charts across the five major leagues as Madrid enjoyed a comprehensive win on the return to the Bernabéu.
