Real Madrid recorded another LaLiga victory, this time over Getafe, and the protagonists were interviewed after the game. It was a hard fought game and facing Getafe is never easy, but returning home with all of the three points and keeping a clean sheet is something really positive. Madridistas expressed this with joy as they spoke for the press.
First, it was Dani Carvajal who assessed the game by saying: “Our aim was to take all three points and that's what we've managed to do. We go to bed tonight top of the table and that puts the pressure on Barcelona a little bit. It's another win that fills us with confidence”.
He continued: “We always want to score more than one, two, or three. This time, our defensive display was crucial. Keeping a clean sheet got us the win today. Winning by a single goal and not conceding places even greater value on the clean sheet. I hope we can continue in the same vein and keep several more clean sheets".
Ancelotti's instructions: “From an attacking point of view, make the most of overloads out wide, since they're playing with five, or three in the middle. At the back, it was about not losing our shape, they look to suck you in to get the ball out to their target men. The line of four held out well and from there we were able to stay pretty compact".
Possible penalty: “He was looking for the slightest touch to go down. That's normal, in the last minute, you have to do what you can. The referee had a good view and didn't blow for a penalty".
After him it was Camavinga who spoke for the press and revealed how he is quite experienced in playing games like this: “I'm used to playing in these kinds of games. We have a lot of these in France, it's a game like any other but with increased intensity, more clashes. It's normal, it's football and we're just happy with the win. We knew it would be tough coming into the game”.
“Tchouameni and I are both complete players and are capable of operating as both attacking and defensive midfielders. When we’re both out there, we pay attention to what each other is doing. If I can see that he’s pushing forward, I drop deeper, he added.
Starting spot: “Any footballer always wants to start every game, but that’s simply not possible all of the time. Whenever I play, I try to do all I can to make the coach see that I’m ready to start games.”
Clásico: “We’ve now got Tuesday’s game and we’re going to focus on it and we’ll then switch our attention to the Barcelona match.”
The German defender, Antonio Rüdiger was next. He appreciated the team’s response after the Osasuna result: “It was important that we produced a response after our draw against Osasuna. The team put a good shift in. We’ve kept a clean sheet and our focus turns to our next game.”
He continued: “We scored early on and that gave us a lot of confidence, but we were also aware that they were capable of causing us problems with their long balls. We defended really well as a team and that helped us to keep them out.”
Defensive set-up: “We knew that they really like to go long and that there would be a lot of duels. I had to win my duels and just play as I always do. We were keen to record a clean sheet and managed to do just that.”
