Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the press room at Balaídos and analysed Real Madrid’s victory over Celta Vigo. After seeing his side record their second win of the league campaign, the coach discussed about the possibility of replacing Casemiro with Tchouameni, but of course without putting extra pressure over the youngster. He also praised Modric for his consistent and amazing performances and then spoke about the youngsters and Hazard’s progress.

The coach explained as follows: “Tchouameni has different qualities to Casemiro. He played really well today and he’s shown what he’s been doing so well in training. He defended well and he enjoyed playing his part in the team’s performance. He looked comfortable because Modrić, Camavinga and he did a great job, along with the help of Valverde, who always does an important job defensively”.

“Modrić is immortal. He’s clever, well prepared and is playing really well. His goal changed the game, because until the goal it was an even match and it was really competitive. Celta pressed in the first half. They pressured us well and we had difficulty in possession. In the second half they lowered the intensity and we worked the ball well out from the back and the transitions were spectacular”, the coach continued.

Valverde’s position: “Valverde knows he’s not a wide player. He’s good in that position, he’s comfortable there and he’s also a very good central midfielder. He helps us a lot in this position, especially defensively because he helps make the team more solid. Now Rodrygo is back, he’s got loads of quality and that will also help us. The team will play differently with Rodrygo, but Federico is perfectly capable of playing in the middle of the pitch. He’s starting to score and that’s important”.

“We have to think about a transition which may be sweet, or perhaps a bit more forceful. The experienced players understand it completely, because the young lads have shown they deserve their place. Managing the dressing room requires understanding from the veterans and patience from the younger guys”.

Benzema’s nice touch with Hazard: “It was a really lovely gesture by Karim to give it to Eden. Hazard is on his way back. It doesn’t matter that he missed the penalty because he takes them brilliantly. Eden is showing he’s on the right track”.

Physical games: “When the game opens up, we feel comfortable with these players on the pitch. We have so much pace and energy”.
