Real Madrid took a very important vicoty on Sunday night vs Granada. Santiago Bernabeu exploded as Asensio unblocked the match with a stunner from outside the penalty area. Real Madrid had important absences but managed to win this delicate match and now sits in the 1st place with a 6 point difference from the 2nd place. Carlo Ancelotti spoke remotely from the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium and discussed this victory over Granada.

He said: "It's very good news because we got the three points, thanks to a very good second half performance. The team produced a good performance. We're not at our best at the moment. We've got a week now to recover some of the injured players, which will be important. It was an important match and I'm pleased with the commitment of the players".

"We had a very good reaction from everyone, both those who started and those who came on, giving the team a very good boost. I don't like to take the credit because when we lose, it's the coach's fault and when we win, it's down to the team. The players should be on the front page and the fans really helped us in the second half", the boss continued.

On absentees: “This is an important week for us because we've had a really tough period with some long trips and we didn't come into this game at 100%. We had six players out for tonight’s match and I hope to have them all back for our next game”.

On Forwards: "Jović has come back in after having had the virus and he still isn't at full fitness. I preferred to play between the lines with Isco and I then introduced Jović towards the end and he did really well and really helped the team by offering a lot of energy up front. Both Benzema and Maraino are currently out injured”.

About Mateu Lahoz: “We didn't speak about anything in particular. He explained the Valverde incident to me. I believe that he’s the best referee, not just in Spain but in Europe. Regardless of whether he had a good game or not, I still think he’s the best referee in Europe”.
