Ancelotti analyses the victory vs Alaves: “We were in need of a game like that”.

Real Madrid took an important victory on Saturday night to keep their position in the table and even extend the lead. The coach reflected as follows: “We were in need of a game like that. We found it tougher going in the first half, but showed our commitment right throughout the 90 minutes. We lacked quality and movement in the final third during that first half. I told them that at half-time and we saw an improvement after the break. Following our poor performance on Tuesday night, the fans saw a reaction here tonight and that's a positive”.

“The fans gave their opinion on our performance. They didn't like what they saw in the first half but then enjoyed our second-half display. Nobody was happy at half-time. We needed to do more and the fans were thankful that we did and everyone was happy with the way we performed in the second half. Failure to score in first half: “Failing to score in the first half is a weakness. It's something that we've spoken about and that we're going to address.
