Carlo Ancelotti spoke to Realmadrid TV following the team's last pre-season friendly. Assessing the clash with Juventus, the coach expressed his happiness for the victory but most importantly for the improvement that the team has shown during the tour. The Italian Boss pointed out the main objective of the team which is to get in the best shape and be ready for the European Super Cup vs Frankfurt.
The coach reflected: “We've finished this first stage of the season well with a good performance, showing improvement on the previous game. The team is used to playing with the guys who have played in the past. We're focused on the European Super Cup. We've trained well and we've got minutes in the players' legs, it's all gone really well".
He continued: “It's been very positive because we haven't picked up any injuries, aside from a small sprain for Carvajal. The team has worked really well and we've had no issues. It's been a well-executed pre-season and now we have the confidence to go and win the European Super Cup".
Training: “Now we have to rest up because the team came into the game with some fatigue. It's time to start out with the work we do on a weekly basis".
Madridismo love: “The fans have been unbelievable. The Decimocuarta effect remains alive and well and Real Madrid is amazing in every corner of the globe. They have a lot of love for us and it's been beautiful to come here and feel it".
After the coach, it was Asensio who had something to say. He was the scorer of the second goal in the win over Juventus and he commented the team's last pre-season friendly as follows: "It was a really good performance. We wanted to finish off on a high and we managed that. We were up against a great side and the way we played and our intensity is approaching what we want to see this season. We're ready for our first competitive game".
He added: “It's been a really good, tough pre-season, we're on the right track. We have a squad full of experience and youth at the same time. We're excited to try and win as many trophies as possible this season and we're preparing to do just that. We have to rest up for a couple of days once we get back and then we'll start preparations for the Super Cup, our first title".
Something about the fans: “The support here is incredible, every time we come we feel so much affection. They really get behind us and we feel at home".
At the end it was Fede Valverde who had his word. The Uruguayan said: “The key thing was to gain match fitness to head into the season hungry and in good shape. There have been physical and tactical improvements since the first game and we're happy with the win. Now the most important thing is our work day to day, to keep training hard and get ready for the Super Cup. We want to be together as a team to try and fight in every competition".
About the supporters: “It's a pleasure to put in so much effort and sacrifice when you share it with them. It's a beautiful thing, we have been able to spend time with them every day, signing autographs, taking photos. They give us that bit extra going into the games”, he concluded.
