The White team racked up the 20th win of the LaLiga campaign against Mallorca. This season everything has been going very well in La Liga and Real Madrid is surely the main contender with the others following but never approaching. The away victory vs Mallorca gave Madrid’s lead another extension and the difference with the 2nd place is now 10 points. The Whites’ boss spoke to the media after the match and he was clearly happy about the result but he also stated that besides the difference Madrid still has to give the best until the very end.
The Italian had the following to say: “Nothing has changed. We've got an advantage and that's positive at this stage of the season. We have to make sure we head into the international break in good shape. I think the team is looking good fitness-wise. We did really well in the second half and nothing has changed. The only thing that we have to focus on is winning on Sunday and that's all there is to it”.
“We’ll have to assess the injuries in a few days’ time. It doesn't look like they're serious ones, but we’ll have to assess them. It looks like Rodrygo just picked up a knock that left him in a lot of pain, and Ferland has a muscle overload in his abductor and Karim didn't feel very comfortable after he jumped for the ball. We’ll have to wait and see on Wednesday whether or not they'll be fit for Sunday's game”, he added.
Maffeo’s challenge on Vini Jr.: “That's part and parcel of football. These things sometimes happen. Maffeo didn't go out to hurt him. It was a very hard-fought game with a lot of challenges and the referee ultimately got the decisions right, I think the decisions were fair. Once we took the lead, I brought Valverde and Casemiro off to avoid them picking up a booking. I think that it was a very hard-fought contest and ultimately the result was a fair one”.
Losing the league after building a 10-point lead: "Look, I could say to you, how is it possible to lose a Champions League final when you're 3-0 up, and that's happened to me. Hopefully it doesn't happen to me again".
Pintus: "He's doing a fantastic job on the fitness side of things. He's got a lot of respect for the players and we're able to combine the physical workload with the technical and tactical workload very well. So far things have been going well. Our team has significant physical qualities. We have to make the most of them, but the players have to train".
