Federico Valverde will be out in the match against Getafe. The cause for this is not any injury or suspension but it's something Covid related. Thankfully he has not tested positive but it has been revealed that he ahs been in direct contact with some person that has tested positive for coronavirus so he is constricted to stay isolated. He has also carried out tests after contacting that person but has resulted negative in all cases. However the rules define that he should be self isolated for a few days so it will be 100% sure that he is not infected. He will probably miss only the match against Getafe and no other upcoming matches.
This is the official communication about Valverde by the club:
Real Madrid C. F informs that our player Fede Valverde has been in isolation since yesterday, Saturday 17 April, after being in direct contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19, although the player has tested negative in all the tests that he has undergone. Fede Valverde will not be available for the match against Getafe C. F. today.
Real Madrid have also published a news related to the medical condition of Ferland Mendy stating that he has muscle fatigue and will need to be monitored. Mendy will miss the next La Liga games which will be played away from home in Getafe and then in Cadiz. Mendy will have to rest and relax so he could be fit as soon as possible. He will probably be ready to face Chelsea but it is very possible that he could be ready even before that. However Zidane has decided not to take any risks, letting him recover 100% since he has been very reliable since the start of the season. Marcelo will take his place in the next two games in La Liga and since he is not the first choice for the starting XI anymore the plan is to let him play these two games and then step back in Champions League as Mendy returns. He should be able to do what it takes to help the team with his experience so Mendy's absence will hopefully not be felt too much. Then, in Champions where more energy and strength is needed, Mendy will take over.
This is the official communication about Mendy by the club:
Following the tests carried out today on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with an overload to the soleus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will be monitored. The left-back suffers muscle fatigue and will not be available against Getafe.
These absences are again a a very painful matter for Zidane and his team. It is true that the most difficult matches on paper of this perios have passed but the team needs to have alternatives in any moment. The modesty of Getafe and Cadiz doesn't make them easy to face. Every match has its own story and even the easiest game on paper, in certain conditions, may turn out to be very difficult to be completed successfully. In this period when the end if every competition is approaching, it is forbidden to make any false steps as this would give the opponents a golden chance to catch up or escape. In these final weeks there is no more time to recover the difference in points so every team that sits in the top places of the table and not only, doesn't have the luxury to be neglectful...
Against Getafe Real Madrid will have at least 7 absences because of injuries and other medical conditions which include: Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Carvajal, Valverde, Hazard, Vasquez ans 1 absence due to suspension, the Brazilian Casemiro. It's up to Zidane to make a plan to get the most out of this match with what he has in hand and also it's up to the team to pass through by spending too much energy as there are very few alternatives to refresh the team during the game.
