Karim Benzema hit the opener against Chelsea, finishing off a fine move initiated by Carvajal and Vini Jr. The captain was making his 130th appearance in the European Cup as a madridista, eclipsing Sergio Ramos (129), to move into third place on our club's all-time appearances list in the elite continental competition. Now only Casillas (152) and Raúl (132) lie ahead of him.

Benzema's European Cup debut for Real Madrid came on the 30th of September 2009 in a win over Olympique Marseille (3-0). It was the beginning of a legendary madridista career in the Champions League, a competition where he is among the most decorated players ever, having lifted the trophy on five occasions.

Goalscoring streak: The strike against Chelsea sees Benzema's tally in the tournament move to 78 in 14 seasons with our team. The Frenchman is Real Madrid's second-highest goalscorer in the European Cup, behind Cristiano Ronaldo (105). On the way to the Decimocuarta, a campaign in which he was named best player, he played a vital role, hitting 10 of his 15 goals in the knock-out stages. It's been more of the same at the business end of this season's Champions League so far, with four goals in the games against Liverpool and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo picked up his 100th victory in Real Madrid colours in the clash with Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Brazilian reaches the milestone in his fourth season with the team, having made 152 appearances. His 100 wins with our club have come spread over the following competitions: 67 in LaLiga, 22 in the Champions League, 6 in the Copa del Rey, 2 in the Spanish Super Cup, 2 in the Club World Cup and 1 in the European Super Cup.

The striker made his debut in September 2019 in a win over Osasuna, where he would also score his first Real Madrid goal. Since then he has scored 29 goals and this season he has already achieved his best tally in a single campaign with eleven. His performances have helped to win 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 LaLiga titles and 2 Spanish Super Cups.
