The trip and the Squad
Today, Real Madrid arrived in San Francisco. Our side, who face off against Club América in their second outing of the Soccer Champions Tour, set off from Los Angeles airport and headed to San Francisco airport, where they landed after a flight of just over an hour. The Madrid travelling party then transferred to the Four Seasons San Francisco hotel, where they had to rest until hours before the clash at Oracle Park (Wednesday, 4:30am CET; Tuesday, 7:30pm local time).

Teams
In other pre-season friendly of this summer 2022, the La Liga and UEFA Champions League champions, Real Madrid, and Club America will face each other this Tuesday, July 26. Real Madrid's season was truly successful. Much more than anticipated. In fact, there were not a few who considered that the "Merengues" would make a transition season to be able to put together a more competitive team in 2022/2023. It was not what happened since in addition to La Liga, Real Madrid won the UCL and of course they want to prepare to continue on this path next season.
San Francisco plays host in the second chapter of Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the United States with Ancelotti’s men looking to bounce back following defeat at the hands of FC Barcelona in Las Vegas on Saturday. ‘Los Blancos’ will face Mexican giants Club América in the penultimate pre-season game before the UEFA Super Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt in Helsinki on 10 August.
Monday’s training session had a couple of nervy moments as both Benzema and Mendy needed medical attention but everything points to the French striker being able to participate in the game which will take place at the home of the San Francisco Giants MLB side.
Ancelotti already stated to the media that Benzema would play “45 minutes” against Las Águilas with Hazard expected to return to the left. Vinicius is expected to be on the bench in San Francisco but is expected to start in the next game against Juve, where the Italian coach will have chosen his eleven starters for the Super Cup. Marco Asensio is expected to operate on the right tonight after the man from Mallorca showed positive flashes in the Vegas game against FC Barcelona.
Tchouameni is expected to start in midfield with Casemiro expected to start in the Juve game and Super Cup final. Ancelotti is keen that the former Monaco man to get playing time alongside the likes of stalwarts such as Toni Kroos, who came on in the second half against Barcelona with Modric likely to make an appearance tonight in the second half. Dani Ceballos was one of the standout players from the defeat to Barça and is expected to be rewarded with a place in the starting XI as a result.
Lunin is set to man the sticks giving Courtois, Madrid’s best player from the Vegas game a rest. Ferland Mendy is a major doubt with Nacho expected to line-up with new signing Antonio Rüdiger in the heart of the Madrid defence and David Alaba will man the left back position. The final possible XI for Carlo Ancelotti for the San Francisco test against Club América is expected to see starts for: Lunin; Vinicius Tobias, Nacho, Rüdiger, Alaba; Ceballos, Tchouameni, Kroos; Asensio, Benzema and Hazard.
On the other hand, America are having a great chance to face the best teams in Europe, a privilege undoubtedly reserved for few teams in Concacaf. Although perhaps the best thing would have been to have these games prior to the start of Apertura 2022 to serve as preparation, the truth is that this important preparation with great teams will serve to strengthen the Mexican team.
For this game, Club America would be thinking of a team similar to the one in the last games. The only changes would be the income of Jonathan dos Santos and Alvaro Fidalgo. Club America possible starting XI: Ochoa; J Sanchez, Lara, Araujo, Fuentes; R Sanchez, Dos Santos; Zendejas, Valdes, Fidalgo; Martin.
The Venue
San Francisco's Oracle Park is the next venue on the Soccer Champions Tour. Real Madrid's second pre-season game will take place at this stadium, as they take on Club América (Wednesday, 4.30am CEST; Tuesday, 7.30pm local time). It will be the first time our team will play at this stadium, which was opened in 2000 and hosts the San Francisco Giants' baseball games.
With a capacity of 42,300, Oracle Park was named Sports Business Journal's Sports Facility of the Year in 2008. The stadium also occasionally hosts sports games other than baseball. Club America played a friendly game in this stadium against Manchester City in 2011.
San Francisco: Real Madrid are already familiar with the North American city after visiting on the 2010 tour. Their opponents will, in fact, be the same as in that pre-season. Our team won 3-2 against the Mexicans and will be looking to get a positive result again.
Meeting the Supporters in San Francisco
As part of the important activities in San Francisco, Emilio Butragueño, the director of institutional relations at Real Madrid, also hosted representatives of the Peña Madridista San Francisco Bay Area supporters' group. The gathering took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, where the team are based ahead of the clash against Club América. Butragueño chatted with the group of supporters and posed for photographs.
