The Mbappe case may have been very difficult to solve but Real Madrid however was not sleeping. As the Mbappe was moving in and out of Madrid during the last days, the club have been busy trying to sign another talent from Ligue 1 and last night it was reported that the talks between Real Madrid and Stade de Rennes about the young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga were in a very advanced state.
So, as everyone's attention is firmly fixed on Kylian Mbappe and his potential move to Real Madrid, the Spanish side are on the verge of signing one his France teammates. The 18-year-old, whose contract in France expires next year, has been on the radar of several clubs around Europe this summer but Los Blancos are on the verge of securing his services in a transfer that reached about 30 Million Euro (without taking into consideration the add ons).
On Monday night, Rennes and Los Blancos agreed on a deal worth €31million (£26.5m) plus add-ons which will be close to €40million. The French side were forced into a sale after Camavinga entered the final 12 months of his contract, which he was unwilling to extend, so the talks have not been really difficult. The midfielder, 18, is one of Rennes’ most valuable assets. He has been heavily linked with Manchester United this summer, but it looks like the Red Devils have decided against the move.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti already has Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro and Federico Valverde available in central midfield. He will also have Dani Ceballos at his disposal once the former Arsenal loanee returns from injury. However the opportunity to sign the young talent was not something to skip as he will certainly be very important for the future if he doesn’t find a place right in. That means that there is also a chance that the talent may go out on loan.
Camavinga looks set to become just Real’s second signing of the transfer window. Austria international David Alaba arrived in July after running down his contract with Bayern Munich. Real are operating with limited resources as their finances have been badly hit by the pandemic. Defenders Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have left, while attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard joined Arsenal in a £30m deal.
The wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga has reportedly agreed a five-year contract to join Real Madrid. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Camavinga has finalised personal terms with Real, which will keep him at the Bernabeu until June 2026. The journalist wrote on his social media: “OFFICIAL. Confirmed. Eduardo Camavinga joins Real Madrid on a permanent move from Rennes. €31m guaranteed plus add ons [€40m total]. Contract until June 2027. Camavinga wanted to leave Rennes now… and the deal is official. Here we go confirmed”. Meanwhile, the official announcements by the clubs are on the way.
