Casemiro spoke to the media at a press conference following the tribute and leaving ceremony that was held at Real Madrid City. He expressed himself as follows: "I feel very happy and that I have accomplished my goal. After leaving São Paulo in January 2013 I said to myself that I would give my all for this club, and I've done that. Not only when playing at the Bernabéu or away, but also when training. I sleep well because I've given my all and being able to say that makes me the happiest person in the world".

"It's always difficult when you make an important decision in your life. I spoke to my agent after the Champions League final as I had the feeling that I was coming to the end of my cycle here. I'm very honest with the president, with the madridistas and with myself. My agent said to go on holiday and we would talk again after a month and that feeling was still with me. If this was a mission, I'd say that the mission is complete".

New challenges and goals: "I'm looking for a new challenge and new objectives. I want to try a different league and a different culture. I've made history at this club, it's not going to change. I have to prove myself at Manchester United. I've won nothing there and I want to help the team. I want to like I've helped at Madrid. I'm looking forward to this new challenge".

The decision to leave: "It wasn't a quick decision. There was already the first conversation about my cycle coming to an end after the Champions League final. It's a very big decision for me. I'd like to thank my wife, as she was the first to say to me that whatever I want, she wants. It's a big change for us because I became a father here and I have been here for nine years. My family was very together. It was very difficult for me and my agent to tell the president. I know how much he cares for me and I'll carry that with me. I had to be honest with him and talking to him was key".

Honesty: "I felt that my cycle here was over. I love the Premier League and wanted to play in it. I needed a change. Throughout the season you can be under stress, but when the season's over and you're still considering these changes, it's better to be honest. I'm thankful that they listened to me, this is a big change because of everything I've won and how I've developed at the club".

Economic considerations: "Those people who think that don't know me at all. I would have left four or five years ago if it was about money. The club has always treated me very well. It's my decision, my path. Those people who think that are wrong. That was the last thing on my mind".

Telling Kroos and Modrić: "It was just like when I told the president. Toni messaged me at 4 o'clock in the morning asking me if it was true that I was leaving and I told him yes, I as leaving. He wasn't well and woke me up (laughs). It's not just the two of them, I'm very loyal to all my team-mates and to everybody. You have to move on and I'm going to the biggest club in England. I'll still be a Real Madrid fan, I'll still celebrate goals and titles. The players here are huge and they're the best in the world, but this club will keep winning for the rest of time because it's the biggest club in the world".

History made with Real Madrid: "It's always difficult to make such an important decision like this one. Especially because of the number of years here, the warmth received from all of you and the sparkle when you talk to me. I was sure that my cycle was over and that history has been made alongside my team-mates. We must now focus on the new challenge that lies ahead of me".

Praise from Ancelotti: "What Ancelotti said the other day was very nice, particularly about the Bermuda Triangle, that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Every title won, every match won, every training session at this club makes you feel happy. I've been one of the lucky few to be able to wear this jersey".

"Last year the Champions League was a bit magical. I cherish those magical nights last year, they were incredible. Modric and Kroos are my friends, independent of the player. They're people who helped me. Playing with the two of them is easy, I didn't have so much work to do, the credit goes to them. We've had some amazing nights".

Manchester United: "This is my identity and my values. That's what my mother taught me. It's a new challenge for me and a very important year. Playing for Madrid is a bonus. During the last three days I've been talking to my wife and I told her I felt like an 18-year-old because I wanted to play in Manchester. I'd play today against Liverpool. I'm excited and a player needs that excitement. I'm going to a traditional club which has won everything throughout its history. I haven't won anything there yet, everything I've won I've won here. I have to work hard for the wins and the titles".

"Madrid always sign the best players. Fede is capable of doing this job and he's got 10 or 12 years ahead of him. I said four or five years ago that we had one of the best midfields in the world. I didn't know that Toni and Luka were going to continue playing like that. Fede can play as a number five. Camavinga showed us last season that he could be a great player. The club knows Tchouameni, he's a starter for the French national team. Madrid are in good shape and have good players".

Brazil national team: "I haven't spoken to Tite, but they know me and it's not necessary to speak because the enthusiasm, the work rate and my commitment will be the same. They know my personality who I am as a player. I've not spoken to them as it's a decision for me and my family. The hard work goes on and my focus now is on Manchester United. I have to help my team-mates have a great season. We need to look ahead to the World Cup, but my thoughts and my character won't change at all".

Playing with Cristiano again: "We're not going to play in the Champions League at Manchester United. Not at the moment, but it could be one of the teams competing with the grandeur of Real Madrid. I've not spoken to Cristiano, but I'm looking forward to playing with him. He's a football icon. I'm looking forward to working with him and hopefully he stays because he's one of the all-time great players. I'm also looking forward to playing with the rest of my team-mates".

MVP in the European Super Cup: "It's the end of a cycle. The MVP in the Super Cup shows who I am and what I've given for this club. I put in a great performance along with my team-mates. I'd already spoken and considered this the end of an era".

Values: "I want is to convey my values for this club. I want to pass on everything Real Madrid taught me to Manchester. A winning mentality, a hard-working mentality, the mentality to win games and titles going game by game. I want to learn a lot. The English league, for example, is beautiful and incredible. Everyone speaks very highly of this league. At the age of 30 I'm at my peak, in terms of my mentality, my health, the way I look after myself on and off the pitch. I still live in the moment, enjoying the day to day and my family. That's what I'm taking with me to Manchester".

The demands at Real Madrid: "You're talking about Real Madrid. When you win LaLiga and the Champions League last season, you're expected to win LaLiga and the Champions League the next season. You're talking about the most demanding club in the world. I've won five European Cups in eight years. I'll remember all that joy. You win or lose in football, but when I got home I had a smile on my face and I was happy".

After Casemiro it was Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid's director of institutional relations, who joined and then concluded the press conference. He said: "Beloved Casemiro, as the president said, it's a very emotional day for all of us because every madridista knows what you represent at our club. You're bringing an era to an end and you're leaving as a Real Madrid legend”.

As well as your impressive trophy haul, you're leaving with the warmth, affection and admiration of us all, your team-mates, your coaches, the club's staff and of course every Real Madrid fan. You're beginning a new chapter in your life and we'd like to wish you and your family all the best, as the president has said, this will always be your home", the director concluded.
