Real Madrid secured the spoils on their visit to Rayo Vallecano in a toguh match. After the game it was Courtois, who spoke to the media as he often does. The Belgian, who once again came to his side´s rescue, explained the difficulties he faced in this match. He made some great saves against Sergi Guardiola and Denis Suarez but the most important ones were the two saves he made less than ten minutes from the end as Rayo had a double chance to take the lead and kill the game.
The goalkeeper had the following to say: “It was a tough match. The pitch isn't very good and there’s always pressure from the crowd. We played well in the first half but we didn't manage to score. In the second half they had a header from a corner and then another chance. Keeping a clean sheet was crucial for us to win”.
Another obstacle that Real Madrid had to face was the quality of the pitch. Courtois claimed that the quality of the pitch was not in the optimal level: “It’s always better to play on a good pitch. Everyone has their own budget and everyone does things their own way, but I don't think it's good for LaLiga. If we want to give the best image, the pitch has to be good, but it's not always easy”.
A complete performance for Madridistas: "We had a good first half, we lost the ball in the middle of the park, but more due to the pitch. We put in a complete performance, we just didn't get the goal earlier".
Benzema-Vini Jr. partnership in his eyes: "They've been playing together for almost four years now. They are two great players and understand each other".
