In the build-up to the game against Atlético, Dani Ceballos spoke to Realmadrid TV at Real Madrid City. The Spaniard praised the teams performances and also described the midfield’s competitiveness before analyzing his own personal form. Ceballos has featured in 7 matches so far, assisting once. He has always came from the bench due to his recuperation process and has yet to regain his full physical powers. However he has managed to give a good contribution in his entrances, holding the ball, relieving the pressure and being mostly part of the managing strategies to keep the results safe.
He expressed himself as follows: “We’re in very good form and come into it on the back of a good run in LaLiga and the Champions League. The game comes at a good time for us to face a great side and get as many wins as we can on the board before the international break. I imagine it’ll be a really competitive game. They’re a very strong and solid side. They don’t concede many. We have to focus on playing our game and we’re on a good run. We’ve got players who are making all the difference and that’s a bonus for us”.
Derbies are always special: “It’s a special derby for the fans. It’s a game that’s earmarked when the fixtures are released and there’s great rivalry. Real Madrid should approach it as if it were just another game and we’ve got to go out for the win right from the off, just as we have done in previous games. The Real Madrid fans always get behind us, in the good times and the bad. We’ll be expecting you to be there for us tomorrow and to give us that encouragement that helps us to win games”.
Keys to team’s fine form: “It comes on the back of last season. We finished very strongly and have a really solid team. It’s not just the 11 players, we’ve got a great depth in the squad. Players come in and out and we’re all doing our bit. That’s one of the secrets of this Real Madrid side: all 23 players contribute. You need that when it’s such a long season and there are so many games”.
Team’s midfield: “We’ve got a very well-established midfield with players with real experience, including Modrić and Kroos. We’ve also got some young players who are very motivated and keen, such as Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni and myself. We all form a really competitive centre midfield and we’ve seen how the coach has tried different players in there and we’ve all delivered”.
Personal form: “After overcoming a really serious injury last season, I was lucky enough to have a pre-season with the team this time round. I’m gradually getting back up to speed and I’m feeling stronger by the day. I feel very much at home within the squad”.
