Guti’s first press as the newest DAZN analyst: “I think Real Madrid are as good as last year”.

Jose Maria Gutierrez, better known as Guti, did not mince his words when analysing Real Madrid's current transfer window. The former Real Madrid player has just signed a new deal with DAZN to be a La Liga analyst. The Spaniard provided his first insights for the network by speaking about Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and more, besides Real Madrid. He also gave his opinion about the possible signing of Cristiano Ronaldo by Atletico Madrid.

"I think Real Madrid are as good as last year, though it's true that they haven't strengthened their squad much. Maybe they do need another striker, as they also lacked one last year. Any absence of Karim Benzema can be terminal for Real Madrid and not having a replacement limits their ability to score goals", he said, speaking with DAZN.

On Barcelona's past and current situation, the former footballer commented on the importance of the signings being brought in by the board. He said: "We saw a lacklustre Barcelona last year and I think this is going to give much more value to LaLiga. Everything that reinforces big teams, and teams that are important in Spain like Barcelona, is good for the league”.

Then, he spoke about the players who are similar to him in their playing style. Guti developed as a talented playmaker even why he played as a striker in his beginnings. Guti was well known in particular for his vision, technique, creativity, passing range and ability to provide assists for teammates. The Real Madrid icon said: “I think that last pass has been lost a bit, but I think that Modric or Pedri are the two players most similar to me.”

Guti spoke about the CR7's possible arrival at Atletico and gave the thumbs up to this possible move. He said: "If he decides to come to Atletico Madrid, why not? It's a great team, he's a great striker. Atletico Madrid need a good striker and why not? I think it would be a good pairing. It would be strange, because Real Madrid love him a lot. But, I don't think Real Madrid fans would mind. I think that everything that Ronaldo had to give to Real Madrid he has already given. If he feels happy to be able to play for a great team like Atletico Madrid, why not?"
