Karim Benzema has been named the best French player abroad by the UNFP (the French Professional Footballers' Union). The forward came out ahead of his countrymen Dembele (Barcelona), Theo Hernandez (Milan), Kanté (Chelsea) and Maignan (Milan). Benzema has now won the award three times in a row after collecting it in 2019 and 2021 (in 2020 it was not awarded). In the current campaign, he's scored 44 goals in 44 games and is the top scorer in this season's Champions League and LaLiga.

KarimBenzema has been was also named MahouCincoEstrellas Player of the Month for April. The forward was presented with the award at Real Madrid City in recognition of his fine displays over the course of the past month, in which he featured in all eight of our team's outings, netting 10 goals in the process (against Celta, Chelsea, Sevilla, Manchester City and Espanyol).

The madridista commented: "I feel really proud, it was a really important month for us and me in terms of goals, performances and victories. We're the league champions, but to prepare well for the Champions League final, we have to perform well, win and gain more confidence. We're playing at home and have to send our fans away happy, which is the most important thing for us. Out of respect for Betis, we have to go out and win the game."

On the other hand, it was Luka Modric who received an award about his achievements. The Croatian was awarded the MarcaLeyenda (Marca Legend) accolade in recognition of his outstanding career, which has seen him become a key figure at Real Madrid during the club’s most successful periods. He was presented with the award at a ceremony that took place at the Casino de Madrid.

Since he joined the club in 2012, Modrić has clinched 19 trophies. His spectacular silverware list as a madridista boasts 4 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups. He also picked up the Ballon d'Or in 2018.

During the event, Modrić spoke proudly of his time as a Real Madrid player: I’m grateful for the affection the fans give me and they show it every day. I try to give everything every time I put on the shirt to return this affection. Real Madrid is my home and I feel incredibly happy. I'm just another madridista and this will last for the rest of my life. Thank you very much for this award; when you consider all the winners, it's an honour to be among these sportsmen and women”.
