Rüdiger spoke at the press conference ahead of the game against RB Leipzig, on matchday five of the Champions League group stage. He spoke about Leipzig but also about his new life in which he seems himself to be very comfortable despite being there just for a few months. The squad loves him and Carlo Ancelotti appreciates his quality and versatility. The German has played 15 of Real Madrid's 16 games and seems like he has been a Madridista since a long time ago.
The centre-back said: “I’ve had no previous contact with Leipzig, but we’re going to talk after the game. They’re a side who play at high intensity, with very promising young players and a great attacking player in Timo Wermer. I know how good he is and I hope he shows his quality in the World Cup and not tomorrow”.
He added: “I’m surprised how quickly I’ve adapted. I’ve been helped by Kroos and Alaba. I’m really happy here. As I said at my presentation, I’ll always give 100% for this club. Up to now, I’m satisfied with my performance and looking forward to the World Cup. I don’t have to play in every game because we have a great team, with a lot of quality. I feel good and happy”.
Vinicius: “He’s like a younger brother to me. He helps me to speak Spanish, we understand each other even though we don’t speak the same language. He’s a player with great potential and he’s showing that in every game. I’m sure could win the Ballon d’Or in the future”.
On Kroos’ contract renewal: “He’s a Real Madrid legend. He’s highly respected at the club and in the team. He’ll decide (what he does) in the end, but he knows how much he means to everyone and I hope he keeps playing. I’ve played with him for the national team in several games and he’s a player who can turn a game. We’re going to miss him at the World Cup”.
On his position in the Ballon d’Or ranking: “Benzema deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, he had a fantastic season last year. It was the first time my name appeared there in the ranking. That was nice, but nothing has changed in my mind”.
