After travelling to the square on an open top bus, as is tradition after a title, Marcelo gave the statue a kiss before placing the scarf on top.For Marcelo, it was a particularly special achievement in what could be his final year at the club after 15 years at the club. Almost 34, the Brazilian is out of contract this summer and his future is yet to be decided.
Having claimed the 35th league title, the captain said: "It's the most incredible thing that a player can experience. We've won LaLiga as a result of the hard work from the whole team. We have to keep winning. This is the result of hard work, enjoyment, sacrifice... We've managed to win it by combining all the factors".
"It's the best thing there is to be able to celebrate with the fans after playing at home. It's the most incredible thing that a player can experience. It's a day to celebrate, even though we're aware that we've got an important game coming up, but it's OK to celebrate and remain focused and motivated for Wednesday", he concluded.
