Medicals, Presentation & Press Conference and the White Shirt: Tchouaméni unveiled as a Madridista

In the morning of June 14, Aurélien Tchouaméni checked in at the Hospital Universitario Sanitas La Moraleja, where he successfully completed his medical prior to being unveiled as a Real Madrid player at Real Madrid City. One of the most promising midfielders in European football, he fulfils Madrid’s emotional need for a big signing while also offering another option to their already-strong midfield. After completing the medicals he proceeded with the presentation.

The unveiling ceremony took place at Real Madrid City and got underway with the screening of a video featuring the player’s best moments at his previous experiences and also his national team. After the presentation video, club president Florentino Pérez took the microphone to open the ceremony expressing his appreciation for the youngster and speaking about the future plans.

The president said: “We're already thinking here about winning the Decimoquinta. That’s the big dream now for all of us who are united by this universal allegiance that is madridismo. We're working intensely to achieve it and once again accomplish something that to many may appear to be impossible. We've got a great squad. Several of our players have achieved a new feat in the history of the game and after lifting five Champions League titles in the last eight years.”

He continued: “But today, we’re convinced that the player who is joining Real Madrid is one of those great players who will help us to continue to improve and make our club members and supporters even happier. Today we're here to welcome a young player who is already one of the best midfielders in the world. I congratulate you because today you’re accomplishing your great dream of playing for Real Madrid. At just 22 years old, you had the opportunity to choose and you opted for this crest and shirt, with which we've lifted the European Cup 14 times.”

Real Madrid’s greatness: “Today marks the start of a chapter in your life that’ll you’ll be proud of. In a few minutes’ time, you’ll pull on the Real Madrid shirt for the first time. This shirt represents the biggest legacy in the history of the game and when you wear it, as well you know, we never give up. From now on, you’ll experience some unique feelings and moments that’ll stay with you for the rest of your life".

"In particular, you’ll feel a force that’s difficult to put into words, the force of the Santiago Bernabéu, where the madridistas will help you to understand everything that we have stood for, everything that we stand for and everything that we can become. Tchouaméni, who already has good skills in Spanish language, also spoke and expressed his happiness. The new madridista recruit addressed the media following the president’s words and had the following to say in Spanish: “I'm really happy to be here and starting my story with Real Madrid, the greatest club in the world. I'm going to work really hard to help the team to continue winning trophies. I thank the president and my family for being here and Hala Madrid!”

Contract: Prior to his unveiling, Tchouaméni put pen to paper on his six-year contract in the boardroom at Real Madrid City, where he was joined by Florentino Pérez. After signing the contract, the Frenchman was presented with a watch, a replica of the Santiago Bernabéu and a shirt with his surname and the number 18 on the back. After the presentation and signing Aurélien Tchouaméni entered the Pitch 3 at Real Madrid City wearing the White kit. The youngster posed for the first time in a Real Madrid shirt.

After being unveiled as a Real Madrid player, Aurélien Tchouaméni addressed the media in his first press conference at the club. The French midfielder expressed his happiness and his great motivation to leave his mark at the greatest club in the world. The young Frenchman revealed that Real Madrid’s interest in him feel very lucky and that he had been waiting for Madrid’s call even why he had many calls from other clubs.

“I'm so happy to be here. It's a dream come true to sign for Real Madrid. This is the best club in the world. We're going to work really hard to win trophies and add to this club’s history. I had the chance to choose other clubs, but as soon as I knew that Real Madrid were interested in me, I didn't have to think twice about it. I want to make my mark in the history of the game and Real Madrid is the best place for me to be. This is the best club in the history of the game and the best players are here. This was the best decision for me”.

“I've been lucky enough to be able able to speak with Benzema and Camavinga. We can see in his case how he has improved here at the best club in the world. Camavinga is really happy that I'm here. As for Benzema, he's the best striker in the world. When the negotiations were at an advanced stage, he wrote to me and told me how everything works at Real Madrid. I'm lucky to have them here with me”, he added.

Real Madrid’s interest: “I'd already spoken to other clubs, but in the back of my mind, I was waiting on their call. I didn't have to think about it for even a second. I can now say that I'm a Real Madrid player and that's a marvellous feeling. As soon as Real Madrid’s interest came up in the conversations, I immediately told my agent that he should try and reach an agreement. Today I really am accomplishing a dream and I'm so happy to have chosen Real Madrid”.

Competition within the squad: “Real Madrid was always my first choice. With regard to the competition, I’m joining the best club in the world and have to show my quality in training and I'm really looking forward to doing so. I try to deliver my best out on the pitch. It's a challenge, but I can't just focus on the World Cup in November, but on the daily training sessions and matches with Real Madrid. Playing for Real Madrid is a challenge for me”.

The new Casemiro: “He's had an exceptional career. When I was young, I watched Real Madrid matches and have taken lot of inspiration from players who played in the number six role and the defensive midfielders. I'll be trying to write my own story and if I manage to win five European Cups, it’ll mean I haven't done a bad job of it at all.”

Ancelotti: “I spoke to him a few weeks ago to ask him for his thoughts and he was very pleasant. He told me that if I wanted to continue to improve and become one of the greatest midfielders in the world that I should join Real Madrid, because they've got everything here to help me achieve that. After I signed, he told me that he was really happy that I'd joined.”

​Other offers: “Mbappé, my teammate for the national team, was already aware that I’d be leaving Monaco at the end of the season and he was interested to know if I was perhaps going to move to PSG. However, my first choice was always Real Madrid and he fully understood that. He's really pleased for me”, he concluded.
