Real Madrid comes from two disappointing Champions League seasons(18-19 & 19-20) but is slowly reaching a great form meanwhile Liverpool comes also from a disappointing Champions League season (defeated surprisingly by Atletico in 2020) but we should not forget that they were crowned as champions in 2019 and that year they also made a great appearance in Premier League which continued in 2020 as well. This year they seem to be operating in a slower gear, but the great players are still there and the team may switch the gear any moment. They made great appearances against Leipzig beating them twice in the round of 1/8 and they looked in a pretty good shape. The fact that they are not fighting for the title in England makes them even more hungry and focused on raising the Cup with the big ears! Real Madrid should certainly take in consideration this fact.
The first match will be played in Madrid but until then it's not sure if the missing players will return. However the calculations should be made properly because being constricted to beat Liverpool in Englad in the 2nd leg would be extremely hard.
Words by Zidane:
"We know the difficulties of a game against Liverpool," the Frenchman told his pre-match press conference following Friday's draw, ahead of a trip to Celta Vigo in La Liga.
"We cannot say that it is a bad draw or that it is a good draw. Liverpool are a team that, in a tie, can play their ace at any given moment. But that is the same as us.
"It will be a good match between two teams that have won many Champions League trophies between them. At this level, it is always very difficult to win."
Words by Klopp:
"It’s exciting, exciting," Reds head coach Klopp said of the draw. "It’s obviously a tough draw but I am fine with it because if you look at all the other teams you think, ‘Oh my god’ because they are all strong and all have quality, that’s clear. I am really looking forward to the games.
“It’s only just over two years ago that we faced them and it was a tough night for us, so to get the chance to play them again is cool.
“With Liverpool now we only faced them once, that’s OK. But, yes, it’s always tough. I think it’s the first time I faced them when Cristiano [Ronaldo] is not there; probably maybe the first time since [Gareth] Bale is not there.
"But obviously [Sergio] Ramos is still there, [Raphael] Varane still there, [Toni] Kroos still there, [Luka] Modric still there, Casemiro still there, [Dani] Carvajal still there, [Karim] Benzema still there.
“And a few young prospects, proper players on top of that. Again, I’m really looking forward to it.”
Klopp is right, Real Madrid is still strong, but Liverpool is also strong and at this point no prediction can be made and that's quite great. We all expect two great matches. Will our Real beat them again or they will be able to get their revenge?
The draw was also made for the semi-finals and the team that will progress will face Chelsea or Porto.
