Real Madrid head into the second LaLiga matchday of the campaign with the aim of making it two wins out of two following last week’s triumph over Almería as this time out, Carlo Ancelotti’s men go head-to-head with Celta Vigo at Balaídos (10 pm CET).
The defending league champions are playing away from home once again as their league fixture calendar sees them on the road for the first three games. After Madrid’s victory against Almería and the clash in Vigo, the following outing will be away at Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium (Sunday 28 August, 10 pm CET), before the team’s first home encounter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Celta is always a tough game, but we’re confident and we're in good form”, said Ancelotti in the press conference ahead of the clash. The coach has named his squad for the match, which includes Karim Benzema, who has a great record against Celta, scoring seven goals in his previous three meetings. Meanwhile, another madridista in sensational form is David Alaba. The Austrian has found the net in the last two games after his wonderful free-kick against Almería and his goal against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup.
About Celta: The Galician outfit got the league campaign underway with a 2-2 draw Balaídos when they hosted Espanyol. The hosts let the three points slip when they conceded an injury-time equaliser from the penalty spot. Paciencia and Iago Aspas were on target for Celta, and Madrid will have to keep an eye on the latter, as he racked up 18 goals last season.
Carlo Ancelotti named his Real Madrid squad for the LaLiga matchday 2 clash with Celta as follows:
REAL MADRID SQUAD:
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin and Luis López.
Defenders: Carvajal, E. Militão, Alaba, Vallejo, Nacho, Rüdiger and F. Mendy.
Midfielders: Modrić, Camavinga, Valverde, Lucas V., Tchouameni and D. Ceballos.
Forwards: Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vini Jr. and Mariano.
Real Madrid are set to play Saturday's clash with Celta at Balaídos wearing their new third kit. It's a black outfit and the design is a homage to the transformation of the Santiago Bernabéu. The detailing around the V-neck collar, sponsor and stripes on the shoulders are all lime, while the subtle pattern covering the entire jersey is inspired by the modern metallic lines which will be a feature of the new stadium roof.
The kit is made from recycled materials and uses HEAT.RDY Keep Cool technology to regulate the players' body temperature during matches. The kit will be available at Real Madrid and adidas stores on 12 September.
