Real is monitoring the developments of Salah renewal case as Liverpool may consider selling him

Mohamed Salah is no closer to signing a new contract with Liverpool, and with his deal up in 2023 the Anfield club are reportedly coming around to the idea of selling him this summer. Liverpool have already offloaded Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich during this transfer window, with the Senegal international star allowed to depart despite being a contender for the Ballon d’Or this year.

There has been a widely accepted logic has been that the Egypt international star would sign a new deal with the club. The Daily Express, though, claiming that Salah has asked for £160,000 a week more than is presently being received by Virgil van Dijk. It is not the first time that it has been reported that the 30-year-old is asking for an extravagant wage.

What it more pertinent is that the Reds now appear to be open to selling the forward. Indeed, it is suggested that they will accept offers of around €70 million (£60m) for the player because they are not willing to break their pay structure for one player. So, at this moment we have a “Salah renewal case” which needs a solution, since an unsatisfied player would be something quite negative for the team.

There are a limited number of clubs that could sign Salah this summer. A switch to a Premier League rival can be virtually discounted. A deal with Manchester City or Manchester United would be immediately dismissed, Arsenal or Tottenham are unlikely to fund such lavish wages, leaving a return to Chelsea as the only possibility.

Outside England, clubs are battling financial difficulties. Barcelona, for instance, could not even consider landing such a player in their current position. That leaves Real Madrid and PSG, two teams who have been linked with Salah in the past. Should PSG offload Neymar, then Salah would definitely become a possibility, with the Brazilian appearing to be in the radars of Manchester United (even why there is nothing concrete, at least yet).

Real Madrid, after their move for Kylian Mbappe failed, are not expected to sign an attacker this summer, besides a vice-Benzema, if the current substiututions will depart (quite likely). However, if Salah were to become available at an attractive price, the Champions League winners may just be tempted.

Sources of “The Sun” also stated that negotiations between Liverpool and Mo Salah are not progressing, and if an offer of about 60 million pounds (about 70m euros) were to arrive, they would be willing to sell.

The same outlet reports that Real Madrid are among the clubs that could make the deal possible, but another thing to take in consideration is his complicated past as an opponent of Los Blancos, particularly his comments ahead of the recent Champions League final. That could make everything less likely, but however with the right will and some favorable conditions for the contract things may turn out different.

Liverpool’s attitude has hardened after paying what could total a club record £85.3m for Darwin Nunez. Luis Diaz, at a potential £49m overall, was signed in January while £7.7m has been committed on Fabio Carvalho, who has just joined from Fulham. Teens Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon are also attacking back-ups.

Liverpool know that by keeping Salah they would be taking a huge financial gamble in their bid to regain the title. Always according to “The Sun”, Real are monitoring the developments and would be able to offer a mega deal — despite the bad blood between Salah and Real Madrid stars after two Champions League final spats over the past five seasons.
