The following Real Madrid players have been involved with their national teams at the Qatar 2022 World Cup: Carvajal and Asensio for Spain; Camavinga and Tchouameni for France; Modrić for Croatia; Courtois and Hazard for Belgium; Rüdiger for Germany; Vini Jr., Rodrygo and Militão for Brazil; and Valverde for Uruguay. Their presence has been quite important with most of them being regular starters.

Japan-Spain (Thursday, 1 December, 8pm)

Carvajal and Asensio have been named in Spain's squad for the World Cup and they next face Japan as they battle it out for a place in the Last 16. Asensio scored the team's second goal in their opening win over Costa Rica, while Carvajal was unused. In the second game, Spain drew with Rüdiger's Germany. Carvajal played the whole match while Asensio came off after 66 minutes.

Group stage

France-Australia (4-1)

France-Denmark (2-1)

Tunisia-France (Wednesday, 30 November, 4 pm)

Tchouameni played the full game and was one of the best players on the pitch pulling off a strong performance. As we are used to, he showed maturity and a sophisticated sense of play, despite being so young. His presence in the midfield is making the absence of Kante and Pogba significantly less noticeable than thought. Meanwhile the other youngster Camavinga was not used by Deschamps for the game. France secures the spot for the next stage with this victory and quietly awaits for the upcoming game vs Tunisia.

Morocco-Croatia (0-0)

Croatia-Canada (4-1)

Croatia, captained by Modrić, will be playing for a place in the Last 16 when they take on a Belgium side featuring Courtois and Hazard. In their opening match of the group stage, the Croatians were held to a goalless draw by Morocco in a match in which the Real Madrid player played the full 90 minutes and was named MVP. In the second match they overcame Canada, with the midfielder starting and playing 86 minutes.

Croatia-Belgium (Thursday, 1 December, 4pm)

Courtois and Hazard are representing Belgium at the World Cup and will go head-to-head with Modrić’s Croatia for a place in the Last 16. Both players started against Canada and the goalkeeper played a decisive role in the narrow win with a penalty save. The two Real Madrid players were also in the starting line-up in the second match, where Belgium were beaten by Morocco.

Spain-Germany (1-1)

Costa Rica-Germany (Thursday, 1 December, 8pm)

Rüdiger is in the Germany squad for the World Cup and his country will take on Costa Rica in their bid to progress to the Last 16. In his opening Group Stage match, the Madrid defender was in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes in the loss to Japan. In the second match, the defender started and played the full match against Carvajal and Asensio's Spain.

The Brazilians will close the first stage against Cameroon.
