Real Madrid shocks the football world with a €160M bid for Mbappe!

It was already known that Real Madrid had a special consideration for Kyliann Mbappe! Looking at his talent and potential to grow even more it seems quite normal to love a player like him. But Real Madrid is probably the only club great enough to try to get him as all of the other clubs which certainly would do anything to have him have stepped away.

Seeing the current financial status of the clubs in general and Real Madrid in particular as well, it can be concluded that no crazy monetary demands can be fulfilled at this moment. However, Real Madrid seems to have made the calculations and in the evening of August 24, 2021, decided to take the big step and officially offer some great deal of cash to Paris Saint Germain. So, Real Madrid have made their first move. Los Blancos had been sitting, watching, and waiting until this Tuesday, but they have now put an offer on the table to Paris Saint-Germain in the hope of signing Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Real, who lost 300M euros in revenue because of Covid-19, have only signed defender David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich this summer. However, this summer Sergio Ramos left on a free to PSG, while another high earner Raphael Varane was sold to Manchester United for €40M (£34M) and Martin Odegaard left for Arsenal for around €35M (£30M). Real evidently feel sufficiently confident about their finances to make an approach for one of the most highly-rated players in the world. However, it is still not known how the fee would be structured.

Last summer's transfer window was the first time Real went without a signing since 1980. Los Blancos have not spent heavily on new signings, since summer 2019 when they spent more than €350M (£300M) on players headed by Eden Hazard's arrival from Chelsea. In addition to this summer's high profile depatures, last year they sold Sergio Reguilon to Tottenham for €31M (£27M) and Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan for €41M (£36M). In their accounts for 2020-21 published in July, Real said: "Current forecasts suggest that recovery to the pre-pandemic situation will not be immediate. Therefore, the Club will continue with the cost containment efforts it has made so far." They are also currently refurbishing their Bernabeu stadium with a 575M euro loan. In January 2021, the gross debt stood at a reported 901M euros.

MARCA confirms that Florentino Perez has tabled a bid of 160 million euros to lure the World Cup winner away from the Parc des Princes, and the Real Madrid president is of the opinion that the sum offered is more than reasonable for a player whose contract expires in just one year.

There is certainly a lot of optimism in Madrid. Real Madrid are hopeful that their dream of signing Mbappe will become a reality this summer, even with the transfer window only remaining open until midnight on Tuesday, August 31. Their feelings are boosted by Mbappe's refusal to sign a new deal in Paris, which has put doubts into the minds of those upstairs at PSG, leading them to now consider letting the star striker move on.

Carlo Ancelotti, despite his insistence that he only knows about ongoings in his current squad of players, is aware of the operation and he knows how positive those above him at the club feel. Nobody at Real Madrid has made any public comments about Mbappe since May, and the club will continue to follow that approach until the window has closed. They want to be respectful, and they have made their interest concrete by presenting PSG with their first offer.

Mbappe's desire to leave is also a key factor in this situation. At PSG they know very well that Mbappe is looking to leave the club. He has made it clear that he has no plans to renew and that he wants to play for Real Madrid, leading to doubts in Paris. They had been confident he would eventually renew, though that has changed. Now, with an offer of 160 million euros having been made to PSG, Real Madrid have to wait and see what the response is.

The well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed what is happening. He wrote on his social media: “Confirmed. Real Madrid have made a formal bid for €160m to sign Kylian Mbappé immediatly. There’s NO green light from Paris Saint-Germain yet. No intention from PSG to accept this proposal, they are prepared to turn it down. Al Khelaifi will have the final decision in his hands. Kylian Mbappé has turned down more than three different proposals from PSG to extend the contract. He’s waiting too but there’s still no agreement between Real Madrid and PSG, as of now. There are NO English clubs currently in the race for Mbappé. Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in his future as of now. Confirmed”.

He again wrote later: Kylian Mbappé’s future decision: “What’s happening now on Mbappé situation? Kylian Mbappé wants to join Real Madrid. This summer or next summer as free agent, he wants to make his “childhood dream” come true. That’s why Mbappé is turning down all PSG new contract bids, it happened more than three times in the last sixth months negotiations. Real Madrid have made a formal bid for €160m on Tuesday evening. There’s NO green light from PSG and they’ve not sent an official answer to Real. Real Madrid are showing to Kylian Mbappé and his family how serious they are making this kind of bid for a player able to sign for free in 6 months: it’s Mbappé or nothing, they only want him. Nasser Al Khelaifi is the only one who will decide Mbappé’s future and he always said he wants to keep Kylian at PSG this summer. If Mbappé will not be able to join Real Madrid in the next few days, Florentino Perez will work on the deal for June 2022 as free agent. Important to clarify: no Liverpool and no other English clubs in the race for Kylian Mbappé this summer, no way”.

Meanwhile, the famous Le Parisien wrote: Official talks are finally taking place between PSG and Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappé. Real Madrid are very optimistic as the player wants to leave. PSG are still studying Real Madrid's offer for Kylian Mbappé. The bid has not yet been rejected.
