Besides the idea to find more playing minutes elsewhere Takefusa Kubo is also restricted by his foreign passport to to stay at Real Madrid since all of the “extra-communautaire” slots are already taken by other players. Take’s future looks to be decided with Real Madrid and Real Sociedad closing on a deal for the forward. After a slight hiccup in talks, Notices de Gipuzkoa are reporting both parties have seemingly agreed on terms.

Although Los Blancos initially wanted to send the Japanese international away on loan, Real Sociedad rejected that offer, seeking instead to sign the 21-year-old dynamo to a five-year contract, the report from Notices de Gipuzkoa said (a paper from San Sebastian which is the city where Sociedad is located). Negotiations with LaReal, led by Jokin Aperribay and Roberto Olabe, have been straightforward.

As reported by MARCA on June 22, Kubo was presented with a five-year contract that would give him the salary he'd receive if he stayed at Real Madrid. Real Sociedad came sixth in La Liga last season and will play in the Europa League this upcoming season. Kubo, who joined Real Madrid from FC Tokyo in the summer of 2019, has been loaned out every season since.

The Japanese international spent the last season on loan at Mallorca, featuring 30 times in all competitions, scoring two and assisting three goals in the process. The chance to join a team with the attacking style of Real Sociedad, and one that plays in the Europa League, always made them Kubo's first choice. This comes after he made it clear he didn't want to travel to the USA with Madrid given their non-EU quota problems. A similar outcome is expected for Reinier as well.

Real Sociedad have lost Adnan Januzaj this summer, with the Belgian international departing as a free agent after his contract expired. So, Imanol Alguacil’s side are on the lookout for a replacement for the former Manchester United starlet, with Kubo being identified as a top target. What works in their favour is that the reigning Spanish and European champions wish to sort Kubo’s future before they fly off for their pre-season tour to the United States of America.

La Real have previously tried to sign Kubo and they are pushing again for him ahead of the 2022/23 season. Their determination to sign him permanently has tipped the balance and he is expected to sign a five year contract at the Estadio Anoeta. If a deal is completed in time, Kubo will join the La Real squad on pre-season duty in Germany later this month, with their La Liga campaign kicking off away at Cadiz on August 14.
