The winter transfer window is here and Real Madrid have not ruled out the departure of some players, with Gareth Bale and Isco being the main candidates to leave the Estadio Bernabeu even in January. Both players' contracts run until June 30, but Los Blancos don't seem willing to renew their deals, as coach Carlo Ancelotti isn't keen on either of the two. Meanwhile, there are others such as team captain Marcelo, who has barely featured this season and Real Madrid will respect any decision he may take regarding his future.
As for Marcelo, there have been links with a return home to Brazil, with his former club, Fluminense, rumored to be interested in securing the soon-to-be free agent. According to a report from MARCA, new rumors have been circulating in Valdebebas that Marcelo could retire from football this summer. The Brazilian will turn 34-year-old in May and could achieve his dream of retiring at Real Madrid.
Gareth Bale has been put up for sale by Real Madrid ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports. The Welshman has not featured for the LaLiga giants since August and is not expected to extend his £600,000-per-week contract which expires at the end of the season. The winger has not been a regular starter at the Bernabeu since the 2018-19 season, making just three appearance this term after spending the last campaign out on loan at Tottenham.
Also, there are reports saying that Real Madrid are willing to send Isco Alarcon on a loan deal which would not involve any kind of fee while also paying a part of his current salary. This, according to a report from ABC. Even why Isco will probably leave the club next summer anyway, Madrid would rather find a new club for him this winter as well.
However, no clubs are interested in such a short loan deal for Isco knowing that he could sign for any other club next summer, per that same report. Isco’s value in the market has dropped significantly over the last few years and it seems clear that Real Madrid will have to wait until the summer to part ways with the Spanish midfielder.
Mariano Diaz, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard are part of Ancelotti's plans, but Los Blancos are open to negotiate with any club that would be interested in acquiring their services in January, as had happened in the last couple of years with Alvardo Odriozola and Martin Odegaard. Bale, Marcelo and Isco will probably leave Real Madrid on June 30, which means that the club will listen to offers, should they arrive in January.
Besides all of the news, the striker Luka Jovic appears to be not interested in leaving the club this winter, not even on a loan deal. That’s what Diario AS published this Tuesday, adding that the Serbian forward feels that this second half of the season could be his last chance to prove himself and earn a spot in the club as Madrid look to add a few key attackers next summer.
Jovic was buried in Carlo Ancelotti’s rotation but completed two convincing performances when Karim Benzema injured his hamstring against Real Sociedad. Jovic scored a goal in that game and also delivered one assist, while he also played well against Inter Milan.
Lack of January arrivals: During Florentino Perez's tenure as Real Madrid president, the club have barely signed any players in the winter transfer window, with Emmanuel Adebayor joining when Jose Mourinho was in charge and Reinier being the last player to sign in January, though that came two years ago.
Real Madrid believe that there are hardly any quality players available in January despite clubs being able to register players who have featured for other teams in the Champions League group stage. There are players such as Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger, whose contracts run until summer, but neither Paris Saint-Germain nor Chelsea are willing to negotiate any potential move in January. However the players are now free to negotiate with their potential suitors and Real Madrid may try to offer something concrete to them.
