Real Madrid head to the RCDE Stadium tonight on LaLiga matchday three (10:00pm CEST). Ancelotti's team have kicked off the competition in positive fashion and will be hoping to record a third win on the bounce against Espanyol this evening to maintain their unbeaten start. David Alaba’s individual brilliance rescued Madrid for the first game against UD Almeria, but brazed past Celta Vigo, registering a 1-4 win. Luka Modric was on top of his game, as always, registering a goal and an assist in 77 minutes.
Our boys have shown real attacking prowess early on and will look to continue their impressive form in front of goal. Madrid are the league's top scorers after two games, having netted six times already. This is their last game on the road before the team makes their Santiago Bernabéu debut for the season against Betis on 3 September since the new playing surface has now been laid at the Santiago Bernabéu ahead of this season's home games.
This game, last season, ended in defeat for Los Blancos as Raul de Tomas and Aleix Vidal rippled the net. Tonight, though, things could be different. “We're ready and in good shape", said Carlo Ancelotti in the pre-match press conference. The Italian will take charge of his first game since being named Coach of the Year at the UEFA gala on Thursday, where Benzema also scooped the Men's Player of the Year award. The French forward was on the score sheet last time the team met Espanyol, the game which sealed 35th LaLiga title.
Espanyol’s form : Diego Martínez's side kick off matchday three sitting fifteenth in the table. Their opening two fixtures have seen them take a point away to Celta (2-2), before falling to defeat to Rayo Vallecano (0-2) at home.
Carlo Ancelotti has named his squad for the LaLiga matchday 3 clash at the RCDE Stadium as well with Kroos reappearing in the squad. The list goes as follows:
